San Diego Comic-Con: July 25-30,2007

In San Diego I stayed with Danielle, a friend from high school. She tends her roommate's turtles, who live in the bathtub, while the roommate's away.

The bus and trolley ride to the convention center took an hour and fifteen minutes each way. On the first day, I inadvertently befriended a 12 year old convention-goer on the trolley ride.

Comic Con was super crowded--they sold out every day. I couldn't stop to take pictures--I was moved by the herd in this crowded end of the convention.

I didn't want to miss seeing Neil Gaiman talk, so I stayed in the same room for 2 1/2 hours beforehand sitting through some boring Marvel programming--at least 3 people around me did the same...

I stocked up on loot, but not from these guys, directly from the artists. Got some original art and stickers from, plus traded sketches with Jeffrey Rowland (I highly recommend this comic--read back in the archives a bit), the new copy of Flight and a Flight poster, some art prints and a sketch from Sarah Mensinga, among other things.

Video crews were interviewing every tenth person, it seemed.

Who's coming with me next year? Let's dress up! I'm becoming quite fond of the steampunk aesthetic.
